She made it to Oregon!

Haley flew to Oregon on Wednesday. She was with a group of about 20 new missionaries. Upon arrival, her mission president and his wife, President and Sister Samuelian, picked them up and took them to the Portland Temple. Then they took them to the "Rock" where they received their first words of instruction and inspiration. Their mission statement is "Build Upon the Rock" and they focus on D&C 6:34 "Therefore, fear not, little flock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail." What a wonderful and sweet experience I'm sure this was!

This is the back of her head!

She has been assigned to the LaPine Ward and her first Companions and Trainers are Sister Henry from Provo, UT and Sister Anthony from Vancouver, WA. And I just realized as I was typing this that all three of them have first names as last names, haha! LaPine is a small area with a population of only 1700 people. It's a good thing it's summer right now because it's one of the coldest areas in the mission. She still might have to buy some type of jacket. It gets chilly in the evenings and all she took were light cardigans. The average high in July is 82 and the average low is 46. Today in LaPine the high is only 73 degrees and it's overcast and rainy! I'M SO JEALOUS!!!

  1. What a great start to her mission! This is going to be a fabulous experience. Glad she is starting off in a small place. Thanks for the thorough update and posting these great pics. What is her address now?

    1. I don't have her local address yet but all mail can be sent to the mission home in Newberg. They will then forward it to her. The address is on this blog. Just make sure it is sent via US Postal Service, Priority or 1st class. When sent this way, the mission office puts a forwarding label on it with her current address and it's delivered within 2 days. If it's sent standard post, Fed Ex or UPS they cannot be forwarded unless an extra fee is paid by her.
