Final Pday!

Welp,

This is my last email.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this experience with me! I couldn't have done it without you!

PEACE OUT, OREGON!

Sister Hart got me a really awesome gift for Christmas! It's a white picture frame that she had a bunch of YSA people sign. She stole a picture off of my wall and put it in the frame. I love it!

Pictures!

We had dinner with Daniel & Tara. We got to their apartment before they did so we went inside, rearranged the furniture, and took weird pictures!

My BFF Cecily from Monmouth came and surprised me!

It snowed again so we had a snowball fight in the church parking lot with our members!

Our district went Christmas caroling at the hospital.

Since it snowed and freezed over, getting our car out of our complex, which was at the bottom of a frozen hill, was terrifying. So on Sunday we didn't want to attempt to drive back down the hill for lunch so we packed a lunch and ate in our car.

On this day all the missionary cars were grounded se we had to walk everywhere. All of us missionaries walking down the street caused some funny looks!

When it's your night to feed the sisters and there's a storm out, you go get them!

We love having these girls over for dinner!

How many Mormon missionaries does it take to figure out the candle is a catholic candle?

Hello!

Not much of anything new to report on this week! Still working with a lot of our less active members, and we are continuing to see miracles from working with them! We're also still working to find new investigators.

Being a missionary during Christmas time is awesome! So many more people are open to talking with us! The spirit of Christmas, which is really the Spirit of Christ, is in the air and everyone can feel it! IT'S SO AWESOME! I received a package from my mom last week and in it was a bunch of mini Christmas nativities that we could pass out to people. Sister Hart and I had a lot of fun leaving them on random doorsteps and chasing people down on the street to give them one! It's so fun to watch people's eyes light up when they get a random Christmas present from a stranger! CHRISTMAS IS SO AWESOME! Thanks mom!

That's about it for this week! I have lots of fun Christmas pictures to attach with this email!

Love you all,
Sister Hanna

Hello!

So a lot of what happened this week was Sister Hart and I volunteering at the Salem stake Nativity Festival! For the past 16 years the Salem stake has joined with other churches in the community to put together a community event that features hundreds of Christmas nativities from around the world!  They run the event for three days, featuring live performances and even a children's play room where they can dress up and travel back in time to Bethlehem during the time of Christ's birth. The stake received permission from our mission president to have the missionaries come in and volunteer as greeters and story tellers! So on Thursday and Saturday, Sister Hart and I were able to dress up and come in and play and tell stories to the kids! It was so much fun!

On the Friday morning of the Nativity Festival, the stake set aside a special time slot for the senior citizens of the community. All the missionaries in the stake came and sang Christmas carols to the old people! At one point, there were only two women in the audience, so rather than singing to them from the risers, we all went down on the floor to stand around the women and sing to them. It was so awesome to see the gratitude and joy in the eyes of these women, and I felt an incredible amount of the love that God had for these two precious daughters of His. Service is awesome! It really does open hearts and heal the broken ones.

I hope you all remember who Daniel is! He's our miracle less active member who has recently returned to activity and is ON FIRE!!!!!  He told us the other day that he wants to go on a mission! HE IS DOING SO GOOD! He's making all of the necessary preparations to go! It is truly a blessing and a privilege to witness him make so much progress in such a short amount of time.

Oh! Here's a funny moment from this past week! Sister Hart and I were tracting, passing out invitations to the Nativity Festival. We knocked on a door and asked if the person had ever heard of the event and the man replied by saying, "I've heard of Jesus!" It made not sound that funny, but Sister Hart and I are still laughing about it.

That's about it for this past week. Being a missionary is the best!

Love,
Sister Hanna

Hello!

So, since the last pday was only 4 days ago, there's not whole lot to report on this week. BUT! Something exciting did happen! The church released the Christmas video for this year! The church's Christmas campaign this year is #LightTheWorld. IT'S SO GOOD! It's all about service and finding small acts of service to perform everyday of December up until Christmas. The church will release short videos every day of December to give people an idea of what small act of service they can perform for the day. My favorite part of the video is when it quotes John 8:12 - I am the light of the world and Matthew 5:14 - Ye are the light of the world. The first scripture references Christ, while the second scripture references all of us. We all have the Light of Christ within us! We all have the responsibility to love and lift others! I'm SO excited that the church has decided to focus the Christmas message this year on service! As Elder Robert D. Hales said in October conference, "As the Savior's latter-day disciples, we come unto Him by loving and serving God's children."

Now everyone, go watch the video at Mormon.org! And if you've already watched it, watch it again!

Love,
Sister Hanna
