Hello!

So I have some pretty lame news...I'm getting transferred :( Goodbye Woodburn! Goodbye Sister Erickson! I'm so sad to be leaving Sister Erickson! I don't understand why I only got six weeks in Woodburn, but God knows a lot more than I do, soooo I guess I'll go haha. I don't know where I'm going yet, I find out on Tuesday! Fingers crossed that I go back to Bend or Redmond!

This past week was good! We got two new investigators! Our current investigators, Xavier and Linda, invited their daughter to our discussion on Wednesday, and she's going to keep coming! And then a lady named Tracey who's been getting some help from church resources called us and said she would like to take the discussions! Miracles are happening!

We also got to see our investigator Matt before he left for Romania for three weeks (he's in the National Guard). I am SO BUMMED to be leaving Matt! I've met people on my mission that I know I knew in the pre-mortal world, and Matt is one of them. Anyways, we showed him the Mormon Message "Hope of God's Light." Sister Erickson and I felt inspired to show him that video, and after watching it, he said he could relate a lot to the man in the video. Boom! Spirit led! Then we taught him about prayer and committed him to start praying again. I am so excited to see Matt progress! He also took his Book of Mormon with him to Romania! HE'S SO COOL!

So, my shoe fell off while I was riding my bike the other day. Thankfully it didn't get run over. Also, we had dinner with a Filipino family last night. We had normal food, like pork chops and lasagna, but then they had what is called Balut. It's considered a delicacy in the Philippines, but I have no idea how because it was soooo gross. Balut is a fermented duck egg... So when you eat Balut, you're eating dead baby duck. I decided to try it...I hope you enjoy the video haha.

Also, I hit my 13 month mark yesterday...what...this is going way to fast!

Much love,
Sister Hanna

PICTURESThis is Matt! He's holding the flag in front of him because he was outside working on his car and was dirty. We told him nobody would care, but he did, so he covered up. Also, please excuse my severe helmet hair ~ This is us super bummed at a wedding reception because we couldn't dance and it was really hard to block out the worldly music, lol

Hola!!!

WE GOT BIKES!!!! We get everywhere twice as fast now! I can't believe we used to walk everywhere! It's so SLOW! The soreness has worn off now, but I could barely walk for the first two days haha.

Not much to report on this week. We're still working to find some new investigators. We did have a good lesson with our investigator Clint, though! We taught him about prayer, and then we asked him to give the closing prayer and it was awesome! The cool thing about Clint is that he's already got a solid Christian background, and so he was very familiar with prayer. We learned just as much from him about prayer as he did from us. And it's always a good lesson when that happens! It reminded me of the scripture in Doctrine and Covenants 50:22 "Wherefore, he that preacheth and he that receiveth, understand one another, and both are edified and rejoice together."

Sorry again that this is so short! Love and miss you all!

Love,
Sister Hanna

Hello!!

Okay, so once again this week flew by! But the best thing about this week was that we met President and Sister Tateoka! AND I LOVE THEM! Before the Samuelian's left, they told us that there was room enough in each of our hearts to love a new mission president and wife. And they were right, as always! We met the Tateoka's on Tuesday and had a meeting with them. They shook each of our hands and gave us hugs. And they also sang a song for us! It was so precious! The best part about this meeting was the spiritual confirmation I received that the Tateoka's were truly called of God. I don't know how many of you know this story, but when the early saints were trying to figure out who the next prophet would be after Joseph Smith was killed, they were addressed by Brigham Young. Many of the people in the crowd said that they saw the face and heard the voice of Joseph Smith while Brigham was speaking, and that's how they received their witness that Brigham Young was to be the next prophet. And it was like that for me with President Tateoka! There were so many things that he said and he had so many of the same mannerism as President Samuelian! It was way cool!
That's about it for this week! Sorry that it's a short one.

Oh! And we had sister's pday today! We decorated Book of Mormons. They're way cute!

Love,
Sister Hanna

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!

Holiday + pday?! YES! Since the 4th fell on a pday, we actually get to celebrate like normal people! Sort of...haha. We went to a parade this morning in St. Paul. It's a small town about 10 miles out of Woodburn that is famous for it's Fourth of July celebration and rodeo. So we went to the parade, and it was lots of fun! We won't be able to watch fireworks though because all missionaries have to be in by 7 tonight. We'll get to hear the fireworks, though! It's crazy to think that last fourth of July I was in the MTC and they let us watch fireworks from the parking lot!

So this week we saw some miracles! Our sister training leaders came to Woodburn on Friday to do a power exchange. A power exchange is when both sets of missionaries are working in one area. During this power exchange, we found a new investigator named Clint, and he agreed to let us come back the next day and we taught him the Restoration! We are seeing him again on Tuesday. Also, Sister Erickson and Sister McArthur were walking down the street when a car pulled over and yelled out the window, "Hey missionaries! I'm one of those less-active Mormons!" And from that, they were able to set up a dinner appointment with him for Wednesday!

So I found a scripture this week that I LOVE! It's Romans 13:12 - The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. The armour of light! I love that! I love it so much because The Light is another name for Christ. Therefore, if you put on the Armour of Light, you are putting on Christ. And when you choose Christ, you cannot fail.

We get to meet our new mission president and his wife tomorrow! President and Sister Tateoka! They're Japanese farmers from Idaho.

I hope you all have a happy Fourth of July!

Love,
Sister Hanna
